Description

A Toli Mirror necklace with a handmade 2″ brass pendant and adjustable leather cord. The knots can be slid up and down the cord to adjust it to hang higher or lower on the body. These pendants are manually hammered to shape and hand polished by tradesman in Mongolia. They may not be exactly perfectly round and may have some light scratches on the font. They are traditionally buffed and polished using a mixture of ash and water.

In Mongolia (and also Buryat and Daur) shamanism, Toli are a part a shaman’s traditional attire that helps to protect them from hostile spirit attacks. In some groups, the number of Toli amulets warn by a shaman is a symbol of their level of power.

Additionally they are used for purifying or enchanting water or alcohol and trapping evil spirits or giving a home for helpful spirits. They store the “wind horse” which is the spiritual power of a Mongolian Shaman. They are also believed to collect and store power from the sun and moon until it can be used for healing purposes.
