Description
These snake pendants are made of various fabrics and have sheep’s wool inside. The fabric has shiny spots so that they catch the sun and the light while in motion. These were handmade by a craftsman in Mongolia at a local market. They have simple faces with red eyes and tongues. They can sewn onto shaman clothing or used as general decorations around the house.
Each snake measures 3 feet in length.
The snakes are used in Mongolian, Altai, and Tuvan shamanic rituals and costumes. They are sewn onto the clothing to protect the wearer from evil spirits that await them in the lower world. As a shaman progresses in his learnings and journeys he adds snakes to his clothing. An experienced shaman may have hundreds sewn on all over their robes.
